More than 70,000 Marlene apples will be distributed by Italian apple association VOG at an event dedicated to ‘the most important meal of the day’.

The apples, harvested in South Tyrol in Perugia, Italy on March 19-22, will be distributed to visitors who complete a test to discover what type of ‘wake-up profile’ they have.

In order to promote good waking-up habits, the four-day event will feature original and fun educational activities complete with displays, seminars and meetings with experts.

Hannes Waldmueller, marketing manager for VOG, the South Tyrolean Association that markets Marlene apples, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in this event together with Mulino Bianco. We firmly believe in the concept being promoted during this comprehensive event and we are very happy to associate our brand with this important and original initiative.”

Marlene is one of the most famous and well-established brands in the Italian fruit and vegetable sector following its creation in 1995 as an umbrella trademark for apples grown by VOG, the association that brings together 19 fruit growers’ co-operatives in South Tyrol.

Today seven varieties of apples bear the Marlene label, namely Golden and Red Delicious, Fuji, Braeburn, Royal Gala, Granny Smith and Stayman Winesap.
