I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited about the Olympics.

At a time when there’s quite a bit of negativity about Britain internationally, what better way to showcase all that’s good about this country than by inviting the world to London and making this a place they want to return to again and again? Who knows, on this week’s evidence the sun may even shine.

The London 2012 organisers seem to have done a very good job overall of putting arrangements for the event in place. But there are still concerns, and it’s important that Londoners and the city’s traders still feel they can go about their business without being impacted negatively.

The London press has written much about the impact of the Olympic Route Network. At New Spitalfields Market, which is right on the doorstep of the Olympic site, concern is growing over what restrictions will be placed on traders’ ability to go about their jobs (p8). That some traders feel left out in the cold shows there is still work to be done.

New Spitalfields will be providing fresh produce to the restaurants that will in turn be serving millions of Olympics visitors. It is important traders are fully aware of how they will be affected so they can ensure their plans are in place.
