In the past few days Israeli flower growers exported 100 million flowers to Europe and North America to meet demand for Valentine's Day.
The export was carried out using 27 cargo planes, mostly by El Al and CAL. Secretary of the Israel Flower Growers Association, Haim Hadad, said that Valentine's Day is one of the most important marketing challenges for Israeli growers, who have made plans months in advance to cultivate red flowers to meet the demand on Valentine's Day.
He added that the main clients in Europe were buyers in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, the UK, the USA and Russia.
