The 17th Mashov International Agricultural Exhibition today and tomorrow in the Tel Aviv Fairgrounds is set to play host to delegations from more than 20 countries.

The recent contacts are with Asian countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Israel and until now have avoided any economic relations with the middle eastern nation. Indonesia, the largest of these countries, recently approved a large delegation to travel to the privately run Agro-Mashov agricultural exhibition. According to the organisers of the event, incoming foreign delegations were expected from Jordan, India, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey, China, Singapore; delegations from several EU member countries, from eastern Europe, notably Russia, and from Latin American countries.

One of the largest groups was expected from China: a high-ranking delegation including the directors of a number of government ministries as well as the heads of large agricultural and export firms.

The theme of the Agro-Mashov exhibition is Healthy Agriculture, including ways and means of restoring the original flavours of fruits and vegetables and the introduction of a number of new varieties of exotics, that were developed in Israel and are now among the items exported to foreign markets.
