Citrus exports were up 12.6 per cent

During the first nine months of 2003, the volume of food exported from Israel to the European Union rose by 22.6 per cent, and to the US by 36 per cent, totaling US$377.6m.

The total volume of food export to all sales destinations rose by 20 per cent compared to the corresponding period a year ago, according to data released by the food division of the Manufacturers Association of Israel. Chairman of the division Gezy Kaplan said that the rise in export volume during this period stands contrary to the decline of volume of food purchased in Israel due to the recession.

The export of citrus products rose by 12.6 per cent to US$110m; and the export of other fruit products increased by 28 per cent to US$20.5m.
