A historic decision to sell Israeli apples to Syria has been made by the Israeli defence minister Shaul Mofaz, the Jerusalem Post has reported.
The move follows requests by Druze farmers on the Golan Heights to sell 15,000 tonnes of apples to Syria.
The agreement marks the first time Israeli products have been openly exported to Syria, considered an enemy country as it has never concluded a peace treaty with the Jewish state.
Farmers sought permission to sell to Syria as they feared the apples would go bad if not sold soon.
