Israel exports 10-month boom

The value of Israel's export of fresh produce for the first 10 months of 2005 rose by 18 per cent compared with the same period in the previous year, and registered a 72 per cent rise in the last three years, according to the Foreign Trade Department at the country’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The export value of Israeli fresh produce totalled US$860 million to end October 2005, (US$720 for the same period in 2004). The data includes a 110 per cent increase in fruit exportsand a 47 per cent rise in the export of citrus.

Since the ministry set in 2003 a target to increase the export of fresh produce, Israeli exports have risen from US$495.3m in January to October 2002 to the current figure.
