Following the acquisition of a majority holding by Sumitomo Chemicals just over one year ago, Interfarm UK Ltd has announced positive sales progress and business expansion, as well the appointment of a new sales manager and new business manager.

Andy Makings has been appointed to the newly formed position of sales manager, and will be responsible for all aspects of sales to distributors throughout UK and Ireland. With a farming background, Makings has more than 20 years’ experience working in the agrochemical industry. Prior to joining Interfarm (UK) Ltd he worked in field development and field research, and held a number of senior commercial roles within a number of key crop protection manufacturers, including Rhone-Poulenc, Aventis and Bayer CropScience.

I have every intention of growing the business further and also of introducing and developing a number of new products for both the arable and speciality crop sector. As a company Interfarm aims to provide a high level of service and a wide range of cost-effective products to its customers, and I am looking forward to making a positive contribution to future growth.”

In addition to the new sales manager, Andy Jeffries has been appointed business manager for the firm. Jeffries will be responsible for sales with a number of key distributors and will be based in the eastern part of country. He has been the chemical buyer for the farmer co-operative Woldmarsh, Business Manager for Sipcam and a partner in a distribution business.
