Spanish body Intercitrus has ratified a new sales contract that aims to put trade of oranges and easy peelers on a much more professional footing.
Under the terms of the new contract between a grower and their customer, which was approved at Intercitrus’s AGM last week, the variety, price, form and date of payment, as well as date of harvest are all specified. And both the buyer and seller are identified, as is the field the fruit is grown in.
Newly elected Intercitrus president Juan Vicente Safont of Anecoop told freshinfo: “This contract greatly enhances traceability. What is very important is that Intercitrus will hold a copy of the document and have a committee to consider any disputes arising between signatories.”
The new season will kick off in September.
