Intellident has announced it has accepted an offer from the Linpac Group to acquire a substantial shareholding in the company.

Intellident has over 20 years experience in the design and integration of automatic data capture and asset tracking solutions. With proven applications in sectors as diverse as supply chain logistics, manufacturing and libraries the company claims to be at the leading edge of RFID based technology.

The Linpac Group is a diversified packaging group with global turnover in excess of £1.2 billion and manufacturing facilities in all five continents. It is the UK market leader in the production of returnable plastic materials handling products. Co-operation between the two businesses is already substantial with Linpac producing plastic materials handling equipment that includes Intellident supplied RFID tags encapsulated in line with the moulding process.

Through Linpac's service provision organisation, Birmingham-based Logtek Ltd, there are several major joint projects; the most significant is regarded as the world's largest retail supply chain RFID application to date, the roll out of 3.5 million new RFID enabled metric trays to Marks & Spencer's food division and its extensive distribution and supplier network.

Jim Hopwood, Intellident's managing director, said: “The additional funding and strengthening of our financial base which Linpac provides will facilitate our sustained growth as we continue to drive the adoption of RFID systems. We strongly believe in the synergies between the two organisations and wish to maximise the opportunities available by combining Smart packaging with Intellident's automatic identification technology skills.”

By joining forces with Linpac, Intellident has the ability to provide a turnkey solution to equipment tracking and supply chain requirements utilising best of breed RFID systems coupled with the extensive range of equipment from the Group.
