Leon Aichen Lifetime Achievement

AG Thames chairman Leon Aichen was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Fresh Awards while Greenyard Flowers picked up Fresh Produce Business of the Year.

Aichen was described as an inspiration and one of the most well-respected individuals in the industry at an awards ceremony held in the Intercontinental Park Lane last night (8 June). The award was collected by David Aichen on behalf of his father who was unable to attend.

FPC chief executive Nigel Jenney said: “Leon Aichen is an inspiration, a true gentleman and his reputation for integrity, honesty and loyalty, with a focus on the welfare of others around him, make him one of the most admired and well respected individuals in the industry.”

Greenyard Flowers was highly commended for its forward-thinking business that has “transformed British daffodil production”, judges said.

Over 8,000 consumers voted online between January and April 2017 for the winners of the retail categories, where winners consisted of:

Aldi – Multiple Retailer of the Year

Asda – Multiple Floral Retailer of the Year

Iceland – Convenience Retailer of the Year
