It has been revealed that 16 illegal immigrants were found working in a St Albans Morrisons supermarket during the summer.

According to local press, immigration officials are understood to have raided Morrisons in Hatfield Road after learning that a number of staff had been working there in a variety of capacities using forged immigration documents.

“The store was found to be blameless by immigration officers from Stansted Airport who carried out the raid because the documentation was so realistic that they could not have realised it was fake,” said one report.”No action is to be taken against the store and the 16 immigrants were taken away for questioning and have not returned to Morrison's since.”

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: "The standard of the documentation was so good that the Border and Immigration Agency agreed it would have been impossible for us to identify it as being false."
