IGD chief executive Joanne Denney-Finch will host numerous big names in the industry

The IGD has announced its strongest ever line-up for its centenary convention, including leading names from Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda and the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).

The convention, which takes place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on October 13, will be led by IGD president and Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King.

He will be followed by IGD’s chief executive Joanne Denney-Finch in the first session of what is expected to be a sell-out event.

Other high-profile speakers include Marc Bolland, chief executive of Morrisons; Gwyn Burr, customer director of Sainsbury’s; Andy Clarke, chief operating officer of ASDA; Peter Kendall, president of the NFU; and Tesco’s chief executive Sir Terry Leahy.

Peter Marks, chief executive of The co-operative, will speak along with Troy Warfield, managing director of Kimberly-Clark and Charles Wilson, chief executive of Booker and IGD vice-president.

Joanne Denney-Finch, chief executive of IGD, said: “The challenges facing leaders in food and grocery today are daunting, but not insurmountable.

“Our industry is a resilient one, with a track record of trading through turbulent times and emerging stronger than before. But it all depends on the quality of leadership, and the responses we make to exceptional demands.

“The theme of this year's IGD Convention is Leadership in Adversity, and we have assembled our strongest ever line-up of speakers to discuss the challenges we are all facing, and how best to navigate through them.”
