IGD is launching a series of workshops helping farmers to increase sales and reduce costs in their business this month.

Each workshop will offer farmers the opportunity to increase value by understanding consumers better, identify at least seven different types of waste in their business to reduce costs and receive two months of support from business and industry experts to help ensure maximum benefit can be secured.

IGD hopes the events will also offer delegates the chance to meet other farmers and small business owners and talk about shared experiences.

The events will take place throughout September at various location in the north-east of England, the Midlands and the South.

Peter Whitehead, agri-business programme leader for the IGD, said: "These workshops are designed to help businesses identify practical ways to increase sales and reduce costs and each one will be based around real case studies, providing delegates with tools that can be adapted to their own circumstances.

"All the workshops have been specifically designed with the needs of farmers, those with food processing operations and other small food businesses in mind. They are funded by IGD to help farmers and small food businesses increase their profitability."

The workshops are being held by IGD in partnership with the National Farmers’ Union, Heart of England Fine Foods, Taste of the West, Northumbria Larder, Food Northwest and The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber.
