Former growers salesman Ian Brown has died at his home in West Malling, Kent, aged 62.

Brown (pictured) started as a salesman at the old Covent Garden Market for SJ Parsons on leaving school in 1964, following in the footsteps of his late father Ken Brown of J. Bartholemew & Sons.

From there, he became a growers salesman for John Wacket (Covent Garden), FA Barker and finally WC Emmett & Sons before retiring from the market 18 months ago.

His elder brother Graham has his own business, JJ Cheney Ltd, on Western International Market.

Brown is survived by his daughter Tanith and his grandson Sam. His funeral will be held at Vinters Park Crematorium, Maidstone on June 23rd.
