Retail bosses are calling for nominations from retailers for the Celebrity Shopper of the Year Award for 2005.

The award, from the British Retail Consortium, is designed to recognise the impact and contribution celebrities can make to the retail industry.

Retailers are asked to put forward their nominations, from which a top 10 list will be drawn up for public voting in August.

Retailers have until 30 June to register their votes via the website http://www.brc.org.uk/celebrityshopper and be in with a chance to win a magnum of champagne if their celebrity makes the list.

The winner will be announced at the BRC’s Annual Dinner in September.

Last year’s winners Trinny & Susannah pipped other hopefuls, Victoria and David Beckham, Jamie Oliver and Colleen McLoughlin, to the title at the last minute.

Kevin Hawkins, BRC director general, said: “Celebrities are highly influential, giving people inspiration on what to wear and what to eat; making a significant contribution to the retail industry.

“The Celebrity Shopper of the Year Award is a fun way of recognising those who demonstrate a special passion for retail or who have made a significant contribution to the industry.”
