John Humphrys, the well-known presenter of Radio 4’s Today programme and Mastermind, will chair the ACS Summit 2007, a small-shops sector conference, on May 1.

James Lowman, ACS chief executive, said: “I am absolutely delighted we have secured John as our conference chair. John is a well known and well respected journalist. He will challenge speakers and delegates alike, and I am sure he will contribute greatly to making the day a success.”

Humphrys was the first BBC journalist to present front-line news programmes on both television and radio for the Today programme on Radio Four and Television News on BBC1.

ACS has grand plans for 2007 following the success of the 2006 summit, according to Lowman.

The event will take place at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham.

Lowman added: “ACS Summit is the premier event in the convenience store sector calendar. We have the highest expectations for 2007 and we encourage all retailers and suppliers to book early.”
