HTA is set to launch a series of training days aimed at plantarea staff and managers at venues throughout the UK.

The masterclasses, which are building on the success of training events that the association has developed with the help of the industry, are aimed largely at managers who have direct responsibility for the plantarea, including plant buying and merchandising, and supervision of plantarea staff.

The four-day workshops will include seminars on retail skills, plantarea skills, plant knowledge and plants growth, and are designed for garden centre and nursery staff who work with indoor or outdoor plants and want to improve their knowledge and skills.

Countryfile Summer Diaries presenter Christine Walkden, who will be leading some of the HTA workshops said: “I’d encourage anyone to come along and have fun and enhance their skills and professionalism. These workshops provide the opportunity to learn in a non-threatening environment, so that people can take the skills that they learn back to the workplace and make their jobs more enjoyable.”
