Home-cooking back on the menu

Home-cooking is back on the menu in UK homes, new research has shown.

A survey by analyst Mintel has found that Brits are increasingly replacing microwave dinners with freshly prepared meals, in their quest have healthier diets.

Two in five people said they always cook from scratch, compared with fewer than one in four in 2003.

One in 10 said they regularly cook their evening meal in a microwave.

Richard Caines, from Mintel, said: “It is clear that Brits are keen to get back in the kitchen and rekindle their love affair with good old-fashioned, home-cooked fare. One of the main reasons for this is our growing interest in eating more healthily.”
