Due to the hurricanes that recently damaged crops in the US and Mexico and difficult conditions in Europe demand for fresh produce from Israel has heightened, according to CAL Cargo Air Lines, which operates a daily cargo flight to Europe and two weekly flights to the US, loaded with fresh produce from Israel for the European and North American markets.

According to the cargo airline, in the last two weeks the company recorded increased orders for space by Israel's exporters of fresh produce, particularlly for summer fruit.

CAL predicts a significant increase this season on the 25,000 tonnes of fresh produce it flew out of Israel on its two flights a week to Liege in Europe and two to the US from Israel in 2004.
