As the Chilean Hass avocado season draws to a close, the Chilean Hass Avocado Association (CHAA) is gearing up for the best campaign yet in 2009-10.
According to CHAA chairman Adolfo Ochagavía, although the country’s avocado season has been hit by frost and drought in the last two years, patterns indicate that the next season will be a record-breaking bumper crop.
He said: “The industry has stuck together over the last two years and are ready for bigger and better things. Looking at the previous years’ production, this year is going to be a real push forward and we would hope that exports will exceed the 2006-07 record of 164,075t.”
