High clearance tractor introduced

Landini has launched its high clearance Powerfarm 105 HC with a new ‘HiLo’ transmission option.

The tractor now has four equal size wheels all round, which results in ground clearance of up to 745mm (29in) on row-crop tyres - almost 220mm (9in) more than the standard Powerfarm.

At 99hp, the tractor’s four-cylinder engine provides sufficient power to handle a range of field tasks from bed forming and towing a high-clearance trailer when erecting poly-tunnel frames to spraying and operating vegetable harvesting rigs.

“The Powerfarm 105 HC is especially popular with strawberry growers who use the added underbelly clearance to grow their crops in beds twice as tall as usual,” said Adrian Winnett, Landini UK sales manager. “The extra soil volume provides improved drainage and over-wintering conditions and the way the fruit hangs from the plants makes it less prone to rots. Also, the berries are quicker and easier to harvest - it all adds up to increased yields of saleable fruit.”

The transmission’s wet clutch, which replaces a dry unit, is more durable and has a longer service life, while hydraulic instead of manual engagement of four-wheel drive and power take-off means operators can use these features with just the flick of a switch.
