Staff at Higgins Group are celebrating their success in completing the Three Peaks Challenge and raising more than £6,000 in sponsorship.

Nine members of staff at the Yorkshire-based potato marketing company finished the sponsored hike of the three highest peaks in the UK: Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell. The money raised will be matched pound for pound by the Higgins Group, making a grand total of more than £12,000.

The beneficiaries of the effort will go towards expanding the expertise and products available for agricultural crops in Cameroon.

David Higgins, managing director, was one of the participants and said: 'I'm very proud of the determination that everyone showed in completing the Three Peaks Challenge at the weekend, and in the commitment to training in the previous weeks. A big thank-you goes to Peter Houghton, Richard Dannatt and Andy Stevens who got us all organised for the event.

'I'm glad that our efforts have been reflected in the sponsorship received and that as a result we were able to make a difference to the lives of people in Cameroon.'
