Potato supplier the Higgins Group is enjoying export success sending potatoes to the Canary Islands. Newly appointed export manager Gonzalo Fabregas has negotiated contracts to ship 10 container loads of potatoes a week to the Canaries for at least the next six months.

Now the Higgins Group is looking for UK growers with stock regularly available to help it meet the demand for 250-300t a week.

"Our recent success in the Canaries means that we are in search of supplies of King Edwards, Ambo, Cara and varieties of whites," said David Higgins, group managing director. "And I'm hoping that some of the many growers who visited BP2003 will want to work with us on this exciting opportunity."

The company, which has supply operations in Scotland, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and France, is inviting interested growers to contact Gonzalo Fabregas on 07887 631849.
