Hexagonal chip launches to boost NI tourism

Northern Irish potato processor Wilson’s Country has come up with a unique hexagonal chip as part of an international campaign to increase tourists to the country’s most popular attraction.

The distinctive shape of the Causeway Chips is deigned to reflect the hexagonal columns of basalt at the Giant’s Causeway, Ireland’s only Unesco World Heritage site.

They have been launched to mark the opening of a new Visitor Centre at the attraction.

The Causeway Chip is made from potatoes grown near the Giant’s Causeway and is served with the skin left on the ends, adding to its flavour, texture and visual appeal.

Wilson’s Country also says it's a healthier option as it has 18 per cent less fat than a square chip of the same volume.

The chips have been developed by Wilson Country’s managing director Lewis Cunningham for Hastings Hotels, Northern Ireland’s biggest hotel chain.
