Administrators for Heveco Mushrooms have blamed a fire at the company’s Thakeham premises for hastening the company’s descent into their hands.

Tenon Recovery, appointed the firm’s administrator last week, said Heveco never recovered from the blaze, which disrupted production and caused prolonged disruption to its operation, which included supplying Asda with 100 per cent of its mushrooms. Tenon added that losses have piled up at the business recently and confirmed that the Dutch parent company went into administration two weeks ago, as reported in FPJ and on freshinfo.

In a letter to creditors this week, Tenon said that Heveco continues to trade and as its administrator, Tenon will be approaching suppliers to place orders for the supply of goods and services upon normal credit terms. “I am to overlook the trading and management of the company and all goods and services supplied to the company whilst it trades in administration must be in response to duly authorised purchase orders, wrote joint administrator Ian Cadlock.

The letter also outlines details for creditors and informed them that a creditors meeting will be set up in due course.
