UK glasshouse grower and fresh produce supplier Hedon Salads Ltd has merged with English Village Salads Ltd (EVS), part of the Bakkavör Group.

As a result of the merger, the new shareholding structure will comprise Bakkavör, Hedon Salads Ltd and Growco Ltd, a producer organisation based in Yorkshire.

The new enlarged EVS will manage the combined packing and marketing business. As part of the new joint venture, Hedon Salads will continue to operate as a large-scale grower of a range of salad products. Both EVS and Hedon Salads operate from a base in Yorkshire.

In a statement, Bakkavör said: “The joint venture will enable the new EVS to drive further efficiencies, identifying synergies in order to maximise value to customers in a competitive market.

“EVS is committed to the long-term development of UK glasshouse production, maximising the offer of UK product in season and continuing to provide customers with market-leading quality, service, value and innovation.”

The company supplies fresh produce, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and aubergines.
