Dan Rogerson Defra MP

Dan Rogerson

George Eustice and Dan Rogerson have joined the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) as parliamentary undersecretaries, as part of the government reshuffle. They replace David Heath, who leaves after one year in the post, and Richard Benyon, who has served as a DEFRA minister since 2010.

Eustice, a conservative MP from Cornwall, grew up on his family fruit farm and was previously a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee (EFRA).

Rogerson, also from Cornwall and a member of EFRA since 2005, is a Liberal Democrat and has been shadow minister for the Environment, Housing, Arts and Heritage.

Elsewhere Battersea MP Jane Ellison joins the Department of Health as parliamentary under secretary. In the past she has worked as a manager at John Lewis and was elected to parliament in 2010.

DEFRA is responsible for regulations on environmental, food and rural issues and the Department of Health deals with public health policies including the 5 A DAY healthy eating campaign.
