Forget chocolates, Tesco and Waitrose are going head to head with a special healthy Valentines offer for romantic couples.
Waitrose will be offering a specially packaged Jonagold apple, called Eve’s Temptation, with a love heart naturally imprinted onto it s skin, priced at £1.99. It will also be offering a loose version for 59p an apple.
Meanwhile, Tesco, working with Capespan has launched its Fuji Heart apples, imported from China.
In both cases the fruit are covered with bags while on the tree before eventually being exposed to sunlight with a heart stencilled onto each apple.
Helen Gould, Tesco account manager at Capespan, said: “This is the first time a heart shape has appeared on a Fuji apple. We believe it will be a healthy but fun option for Valentines Day.”
