The booklets, Organic Apple Production – pest and disease management, and Organic Strawberry Production – a grower's guide have been funded by Defra and offer practical advice to growers.

Both books are based on the practical knowledge of organic growers in the UK and overseas and findings from a number of research projects and other advisory material. They also include contributions from researchers at HRI East Malling and the new Organic Soft Fruit Working Group.

HDRA has published the guides to address the fact that fruit is one of the least developed organic food sectors in the UK. This is in part because of a lack of published information and advice for growers wishing to convert from conventional production.

The 36-page guides are available from HDRA for £8 plus p&p by calling Stella Knight on 024 7630 3517.
