The HDC and HDRA are joining forces for a conference day on managing pests, diseases and weeds in organic vegetables.

The event will be held on March 27 2007 at Ryton Organic Gardens, near Coventry, and is aimed at providing information about ongoing research of interest to organic growers.

Part of the day aims to give a brief overview of HDC and Defra commissioned projects on pest, disease and weed management in organic horticulture.

The day also aims to provide a forum for growers to list and discuss pest, disease and weed problems and they will be asked to reflect on organic research priorities that would be able to address any issues rising.

Workshop sessions will be organised to discuss pest, disease and weed management in brassicas, carrots, alliums and salads. Finally, participants will be encouraged to discuss future research priorities for organic horticulture.
