The new tray

Harrison Europac, a supplier of plastics trays and lids for the food industry and the wholly owned subsidiary of Denmark-based Faerch Plast, has launched a range of containers produced from its new high-clarity polypropylene (PP).

Specially developed by Harrison Europac to provide transparency together with impact resistance, especially at low temperatures, the new look PP trays offer on-shelf impact, brand appeal and protective qualities, as well as significant environmental, handling and space saving benefits, claims the firm.

The containers are ideally suited to microwave-only chilled convenience foods, and meals consisting of fresh, raw or processed products.

Joe Iannidinardo, managing director of Harrison Europac, said: “We believe this is the first time the convenience food sector has benefited from a clear PP packaging substrate that has been purpose designed to provide high impact resistance with truly exceptional clarity.

“The robust, highly transparent material gives consumers peace of mind by allowing them to better assess the quality and authenticity of the product they are buying. It also enhances brand appeal by conveying a clean, sharp and fresh look. Feedback from customers already benefiting from the new PP has been extremely positive.”
