Harper Adams University College is to canvas opinion on the best direction for its new Fresh Produce Research Centre.
Led by Dr Jim Monaghan, the new centre aims to raise the profile of research in fresh produce.
Harper Adams vice-principal Professor Peter Mills told the ADAS/Syngenta Vegetable Conference that the university would be speaking with industry to ensure the centre - which aims to deliver between three and five applied agronomy/crop production research projects a year - has aims which tally with businesses in the trade.
He urged delegates to accept placements from students and ensure their time was valuable to encourage youth into the trade.
