The Real Food Festival will launch at London’s Earls Court April 24-27, 2008 and 500 passionate producers will be hand-picked following a careful selection process designed to “ensure quality and integrity”.

Smaller producers will be subsidised to attend and visitors encouraged to indulge in the wares and challenge their taste buds.

The Real Food Festival Selection Panel comprises of a cross-section of members, including: Matthew Drennan, editor of Delicious magazine, Rose Prince, food writer for The Daily Telegraph and author, Jason Hinds, of Neal’s Yard Dairy, Sebastiano Sardo, of FooDiscovery, Anthony Davidson, of LocalFarmShop.com and BigBarn.com, Chris Walton, of Pelham Organic Farm and Lyndon Gee, food writer & key industry influencer.

Festival director Philip Lowery, said: ‘We have created a committee of respected members who each have a wealth of knowledge and experience, they are either producers themselves or work closely with producers. Their passion for Real Food reflects ours and their views are hugely influential within the trade and consumer arena. When they talk as individuals, people listen, when they act as a group, I think they will make a real difference.’

The event has already been backed by Whole Foods Market, Tyrells, Grana Padano and Daylesford Organics, which enables the Real Food Festival to subsidise the smaller producers to be part of the event which aims to celebrate provenance, sustainability, quality and integrity in food and food producers.
