Mark and Harry Hall, father and son partners in Hall Hunter Partnership, have admitted to negligence that led to the deaths of two Polish migrant workers on their Twyford fruit farm.

The Halls appeared at Reading Crown Court and pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a risk assessment for all employees had been carried out and failing to ensure the health and safety of all their employees on October 19, 2002.

The Health & Safety Executive brought the prosecution after a two-year investigation into the soft-fruit farm.

At Reading Crown Court, Mary Hall, also a partner in the business, was formally acquitted after Michael Chaloner, prosecuting, offered no evidence against her.

Labourers Sebastian Skorupski, 21, and 27-year-old Adam Borowik died on October 19, 2002 when they became entangled in a rope machine.

Judge Anthony King adjourned sentence until July 14.
