It’s the build up to Halloween, and that means pumpkins have their annual moment in the limelight.
Sainsbury’s is really going big on the event, with a wide range of pumpkins to suit every requirement. It has carving pumpkins, munchkins and monster pumpkins, as well as a British cooking pumpkin for those that also like to whip up a soup or pie for the occasion.
But if pumpkins are not your bag, the supermarket is also suggesting pineapples and watermelons would make a good alternative for carving those scary faces. Pineapples have begun to be a vogue product for Halloween in the last couple of years, so it’s no surprise to see that trend continuing.
Morrisons has a ‘Market St Small Spooky Pumpkin’ and a small ghost pumpkin for £2 each, both of which offer interesting alternatives to the usual fare.
Tesco is selling pumpkins for just £1 right now, with a large variant for £2, while Waitrose is offering munchkins for £1, and a medium pumpkin for £2 with a linked sale offering a carving tool for half price.
Asda, which also has a pumpkin and carving tool bundle for £2.50, has a large carving pumpkin for £1.50.
Away from Halloween, Aldi’s Super 6 this week includes limes, satsumas and mini pears for 59p each, among others.
Jack’s Fresh Five is beetroot and Brussels sprouts for 49p, leeks and closed cup mushrooms for 59p and peppers for 69p.
