Leading grower G’s has hosted a visit from a senior advisor for the department of work and health in support of the company’s health and wellbeing HR programme.
Dame Carol Black visited the grower to learn about the firm’s three-year investment in the ‘Let’s Get Healthy’ programme, which will see over 100 managers receive a one-hour health check, personalised coaching and a full day of training on focus, energy and resilience.
Black said: “It was a pleasure to spend time at G’s and understand the work they are doing to support the health and wellbeing of their staff. Their work force is spread wide throughout the UK and in Spain thereby creating its own challenges. They are building carefully on a firm base with attention to both the physical and mental health of their workers. I also enjoyed the very healthy and attractive food that was available.”
In 2017, G’s plans to launch a similar programme for its seasonal workers and younger staff, as well as implementing the scheme at its Spanish operations.
Group HR director Beverly Dixon said: “We want our employees to take their health and wellbeing seriously and we firmly believe, that by engaging with our leadership team first, we are putting ourselves in the best position to truly integrate it into our organisation at every level.
“Partnering with Let’s Get Healthy has made establishing the initiative a success, with their meticulous, tailored planning, creativity and experience. We look forward to continuing our journey with them.”
Let’s Get Healthy managing director, Maria Bourke, said: “It is very unusual for a company in this sector to invest so heavily in their employee health and wellbeing. We are excited about their 2017 plans and are busy planning the final detail of what this will look like to ensure we achieve maximum results.”
