Simply Salad vegetable snackpots won the best fresh produce award

G's Marketing has won two awards in the Ideas to Dine For competition held at the Food and Drink Expo 2004 in Birmingham. The carrot and celery stick snackpots from the Simply Salad range, won the best fresh produce award and are currently available in some of the major UK retailers.

Brand account manager Georgina de la Cour said the snackpots were launched in November 2003 promoted as fresh, convenient vegetable and dips snacks that are "good food for on the move." This is the third time the 50 year-old company has participated at the Food and Drink Expo and this year it is concentrating on promoting the Simply Salad range as part of the company's refocus to market its own brands from "seed to plate."

De la Cour explained that the award-winning snackpots are ideal for schools, making an ideal snack for kids, complementing the government's 5-a-day campaign. Another target group, to increase the product distribution, are vending machine distributors who supply offices and workplace areas, to make the healthy snacks available to workers.

The other prize-winning fresh produce is the Mild Beetroot range of freshly cooked beetroot in malt vinegar or red wine vinegar, developed to enhance the sweet beetroot flavours.

The East Anglian family run grower/producer announced last year that it was creating two new business lines effective from April 2004 to meet the changing demands of its customers. The Fresh Produce unit will focus on wholesale business and Prepared Produce unit on all processing activity. Further additions to the range will be launched this Spring, which will include ready-to-cook vegetable roast trays.
