UK consumers are developing a taste for sweet potato and butternut squash products, according to specialist fresh and exotic ingredients supplier Beacon Foods.
The Brecon-based company said it is now supplying ever-increasing volumes of both products, either separately or together, for vegetable mixes, speciality dishes, ready meals, sandwich and wrap fillings, pie fillings, pizza toppings and soups.
Beacon Foods attributed the growing demand to the eternal quest for new flavours to excite consumers' taste buds.
The company supplies the country's leading food manufacturers and food service companies with a vast range of more than 500 varieties of processed and cooked vegetables, fruits and herbs.
