Outgoing Red Tractor chairman David Gregory has been appointed as a special adviser to the board of risk services group Acoura.

Gregory joins TV ‘Hygiene Doctor’ Professor Lisa Ackerley and former Vion, Chiquita, Unilever and Sara Lee director Ton Christiaanse in joining the food sector compliance business.

Gregory completes his six years at Red Tractor this month. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Reading Centre for Food Security, a member of the industrial advisory board of the Roslin Institute and a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology. He spent 26 years at M&S, latterly as technical director.

Acoura’s group chairman Paul Egan said: “Food and drink businesses are operating in an increasingly complex regulatory environment, where issues such as sustainability and traceability have never been more important. We are seeing a huge growth in demand not just for auditing and certification but gap analysis and new technology solutions that make managing food production safer and more transparent.
