Greenvale is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation.
One of the UK’s leading potato suppliers, Greenvale has been widely recognised for a number of technical advances which have helped improve the quality of potatoes for consumers.
The company, which supplies both Tesco and Sainsbury’s, has also recently introduced a series of environmentally friendly working techniques, reduced grower dependency on chemicals, introduced new and improved potato varieties to the market, developed agronomic techniques to improve grower returns and supported local communities.
Alan Owens, chief executive, attended the winners celebration this week at Westminster, hosted by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal.
Owens said: “This is both a personal and professionally proud moment. The announcement of the award is the culmination of many years of hard work by everyone working at Greenvale AP and a recognition of our achievements within the industry. We pride ourselves on being thoroughly professional in everything that we do and take our responsibilities to the local communities very seriously.”
