Glasshouse salad specialist Greenery UK is on the hunt for a new managing director following the departure of Kevin Doran last month.
Canadian Doran stepped down from his role to return to North America for personal reasons, according to the company. He has since been appointed as chief operating officer at Houweling's Tomatoes, a Canadian producer.
A statement from The Greenery said: 'Events in [Kevin's] personal life made him decide to return to North America. We understand and respect his choice.'
FPJ understands no successor to Doran has yet been appointed in the UK.
Doran was appointed MD at Greenery UK in 2008, and he held a number of responsibilities within the wider group, including covering North America, Greenery Overseas and Blue Sky Cargo.
His position at Houweling's is newly created, and Doran will be stationed in the company's office in Camarillo, California. His role will 'initially focus on all high-touch customer interface platforms for all three Houweling's greenhouse farm locations' and 'elevate the company's direct retail partnerships', according to the company.
'Houweling's is committed to setting the standard for excellence within the greenhouse and produce industry,' said CEO Casey Houweling. 'Our growing expertise is second to none and while we have made significant strides as a sales and marketing organisation, I see Kevin as an integral piece to realise the vision I have for our company.'
Doran added: 'I have always had a tremendous respect for Casey Houweling, his values and passion for growing. When the opportunity to work alongside this industry pioneer and leader came, I knew it was one I could not pass up.'
