Greenery revamps directorship structure

The Greenery is responding to rationalisation in the marketplace with a management restructure at the helm of the company. Group directors will replace the board and business unit directors and will be responsible for managing the company's activities directly.

The group will now be organised around three areas: sourcing, sales and business planning. Sourcing will cover supplies of Dutch produce, business planning covers logistics and ICT and sales accounts for all commercial activities including marketing.

These areas will be supported by three staff departments for finance, personnel, and strategy and corporate affairs.

Greenery subsidiaries will be run independently under their own names as Greenery Specials.

Willem van Walt Meijer will remain as chairman of the board and general director, operations director Jelte van Kammen becomes sourcing director, Kees de Wit heads up sales, Hans van den Heuvel remains in charge of import as import director, Joost van der Voort becomes a market group director as does Rob Barkmeijer who is commercial director of Greenery UK. One market group is likely to cover foodservice in Europe and there is the potential to organise further market groups around particular countries or market segments such as retail or wholesale.

"The changes will not mean many differences for the UK," said Hans van Es. "These changes make the structure more compact and shorten the lines to customers as well as intensify co-operation with growers."
