Dutch produce giant The Greenery has seen profits dip although sales have increased.

Net profit fell over the 2010 financial year to €4.8 million from €7.4m in 2009, while turnover rose 13.3 per cent to €1.8 billion.

“This was a result of a higher volume (0.3 per cent) of mainly retail clients and higher average prices,” the company said. "Particularly in the summer months, the higher than average purchase prices could not be passed on to sales prices, which put a strain on operating results."

The introduction of The Greenery’s new collaboration model with the Coforta co-operative also led to a one-off increase in operational costs.
