The Greenery UK has joined the British Tomato Growers’ Association (BTGA).

The move is intended to emphasise the company’s commitment to UK growers in advance of British Tomato Week from May 18-24.

The BTGA represents over 90 per cent of commercial tomato growers in the UK and aims to create a clear identity for high quality, home grown tomatoes as well as providing a single contact point for media, government and research bodies.

Richard Marsh, manager of grower relations at The Greenery UK, said: “Announcing our membership as British Tomato Week kicks off seems ideal timing. We work with many growers in the UK and hope that we can contribute as well as benefit from the group. As a grower-owned, customer-focused organisation, The Greenery is well placed to help bridge the gap between producers and consumers.”

The Greenery’s move was welcomed by Nigel Bartle, chair of the BTGA. He said: “We are extremely pleased that The Greenery UK has signed up as a member of the association and hope that they benefit from interaction with the UK growers.”
