The first Dutch cucumbers of the new season were marketed by the Greenery last week. Proceeds from the sale of the first three boxes of 30s and 35s were doubled by the Greenery and donated to the Netherlands Heart Foundation.

Meanwhile, Greenery Operations, the Dutch produce business unit of the international produce supplier, announced a seven per cent fall in turnover for 2001 down to ?900million. This decline is due to a softening in prices over the past year, particularly for glasshouse salad crops, said a spokesman.
