Billionaire Philip Green has called on M&S shareholders to use their annual general meeting on Wednesday to make their support for his proposed takeover offer heard.

Being interviewed on Radio Five Live Green told listeners that the meeting in London is an opportunity for investors to pressurise the board into accepting his newly tabled £9.1 billion offer.

He has warned that time is running out for him to make a formal bid for the retailer. M&S has rejected Green's advances and promised to boost profits.
