Gray & Adams when the chips are down

Melksham based potato merchant and importer and distributor of fresh chips, D Mortimer and Sons Limited, has taken delivery of a further quantity of 44 tonne single temperature trailers through Gray & Adams Doncaster Limited. The company, which was first established in 1865, delivers around 1,500 tonnes of fresh chips each week to hotels and catering establishments throughout the UK.

The tri-axle, chassiless, tri-axle, stepped neck trailers have an internal height of 2500mm, an interior width of 2470mm and a rear loading height of 1370mm. For extra protection at the rear during offloading and loading the trailers have been specified with Gray & Adams own full width rear compression buffers and incorporate ferry rings for stability during channel crossings.

Commenting on the trailers, John Ovens of D Mortimer and Sons said: “We opt for Gray & Adams trailers time and again because they are very strong structurally and able to withstand the rigours of daily use and our intensive multiple drop, palletised operation. Gray & Adams refrigerated trailers stand the test of time and are easily the most durable available on the market.”

The trailers are fitted with Carrier Vector refrigeration systems for D Mortimer’s fully chilled application. For secure load retention, the trailers incorporate two levels of surface mounted load lock complete with load restraint poles. The trailers have alloy chequerplate floors and barn doors.
