Chelsea 2007 will witness a collaboration between two grass specialists, when Knoll Garden’s Neil Lucas hosts the launch of internationally renowned grass expert and advocate, Rick Darke’s new book, The Encyclopedia of Grasses for Livable Landscapes.

The book features over 1,000 photographs, including some taken at Knoll Gardens.

“As we're coming to understand and accept, the earth has a finite amount of natural resources”, Darke notes. “Grasses are among the most efficient of all plants. Their durability, adaptability, and frequent ability to get by with minimal water make them natural choices for the challenging situations often encountered in the garden”.

Knoll is pioneering the concept of ‘livable landscapes’ in the UK. “The overall concept is based around a commonsense, balanced approach to creating beautiful and sustainable gardens,” he said, “an essential part of the Knoll gardening philosophy for many years”.
