Australian table grape producers will be looking for new markets following the devastation caused by the tsunami in south Asia.

The disaster has wiped out the market for the grape producers and is also likely to have an impact on the navel orange season later in the year.

A producer said: “It will have a big impact, especially on people that were traditionally going to Indonesia. It’s going to be a huge impact on those suppliers.

“With China still not open, there are a lot of places which we were traditionally going that we won’t be going to.

Navel oranges, which are normally supplied to the Asian hotel and resort industries, will also have to find alternate markets later in the year.
